Levels of PGA and Pi and nucleotides in dormant spores

Range Table - link nmoles/g, wet weight
Organism Bacteria Bacillus megaterium
Reference Setlow, P., and Kornberg, A. (1970). Biochemical studies of bacterial sporulation and germination. XXII. Energy metabolism in early stages of germination of Bacillus megaterium spores. J. Biol. Chem. 245, 3637–3644. p.3639 table IIIPubMed ID4394282
Method "Germinating spores were extracted with the boiling propanol procedure described above, but without the added phosphate. All adenine nucleotides are extracted from the spores in 5 min, and there is little or no ATP breakdown (19)."
Comments "As reported by Nelson and Kornberg (6), the principal low molecular weight phosphate compound in the dormant spore is 3-phospho-D-glyceric acid (Table III). Pi is the next most prominent component."
