Comments "Body H2O is distributed between two major fluid compartments: the fluid within the cells, intracellular fluid (ICF), and the fluid surrounding the cells, extracellular fluid (ECF) (table 15-1). (The terms "H2O" and "fluid" are commonly used interchangeably. Although this usage is not entirely accurate because it ignores the solutes in the body fluids, it is acceptable when discussing the total volume of the fluids, since the major proportion of these fluids consists of H2O.)"
