Method "The rate of 36Cl efflux was measured by means of the flow-tube technique. The increase of flux with increasing pH from 5.6 to 7.0 at 38°C is similar in both ghosts and erythrocytes. The steep decrease of chloride flux in erythrocytes at pH values above 7.2 (viz. Fig. 5) contrasts with a gradual decrease of 50% over 3 pH units in ghosts."
