Method "[Researchers] report the discovery of a pressure-activated ion channel in giant spheroplasts of E. coli by use of the patch-clamp technique."
Comments "The same bath and pipette solutions were used, consisting of 200mM KCl, 40mM MgCl2, 10mM CaCl2, 0.1mM EDTA, and 5mM Hepes/KOH, pH 7.2 (o). Changing the KCl concentration in the bath to 400mM shifted the reversal potential by about 8 mV in the positive direction (?). In that case, the reversal potentials for Cl- and K+ (E[Cl] and E[K]) are, respectively, +12.9mV and -17.5mV and are indicated on the graph by arrows."
