Comments "No contigs corresponded to known viruses infecting eukaryotic cells. To investigate the possible presence of eukaryotic cell viruses further, [researchers] aligned the raw sequence reads to the National Center for Biotechnology Information viral genome database. Thirty-two percent coverage was seen for Gyrovirus in one time point, and pooling reads over all time points yielded 42% coverage. Gyrovirus is a Circovirus genus with very small genome sizes (~2.3 kb) recently reported to infect humans (primary source)."
