"Frequency of stages was obtained by scoring 250 randomly
selected tubule cross-sections from each of the 12 control mice (table 3 BNID 110662). On the basis of these results, the 207-hour estimate of cycle length obtained was apportioned among the different
tubule stages...The time required for completion of one cycle of the seminiferous
epithelium of the mouse has been estimated as 207±6
hours. As four of these cycles occur during the interval required
for type A spermatogonia to develop into spermatozoa,the estimate of the duration of spermatogenesis is about 34.5 days." |
