Mean length-to-width ratio in E. coli B/r A

Range 2.9±0.4 unitless
Organism Bacteria Escherichia coli
Reference Donachie, W.D., and Robinson, A.C. (1987). Cell division: Parameter values and the process. In Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium, F.C. Neidhardt, J.L. Ingraham, B. Magasanik, K.B. Low, M. Schaechter, and H.E. Umbarger, eds. (Washington, DC: ASM), pp. 1578–1592. p.1580 left column 4th paragraph
Comments P.1580 left column 4th paragraph: "B/r A cells are relatively shorter and fatter than those of either B/r H or B/r K (mean length-to-width ratio, ca. 2.9±0.4) while K-12 cells (CR34) are longer and thinner (length-to-width ratio, ca. 4.9). Cell volumes themselves are, however, much the same in various strains at similar growth rates."
