Comments P.48 2nd paragraph: "A large number of different cell types have been banded in silica gradients. The buoyant densities reported are given in Table 3. It is important that the conditions with regard to ionic strength, pH, and osmolality are defined when the buoyant density is determined. The cells can shrink or swell with changes in the surrounding medium (Pretlow et al., 1975)."
