Comments P.339 right column: "Assuming that the ribosomal density in an E. coli cell (i.e., 1µm in diameter, 3µm long) is similar [to Spiroplasma melliferum], the corresponding number of ribosomes would be ca. 27,000, which is in close agreement with previous estimations based on mass measurements (Bremer and Dennis, 1996)."
