Method "Using (a) the sum of the molecular weights of the RNA in the two ribosomal subunits (0.55 and 1.65 x 10^6, Petermann & Pavlovec, 1963) as the molecular weight of the RNA in one ribosome, (b) a value of 9.6 x 10^-12 g DNA per average liver cell (Vendrely, 1955) and (c) 2.3 mg ribosomal RNA per mg DNA (12-hour fed rats, Table 2, column 3), researchers estimated 6.0 x 10^6 as the number of ribosomes per average liver cell."
