Method Video-enhanced differential interference contrast (DIC)
Comments The discovery and initial characterization of IFT depended on the use of video-enhanced differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy to visualize the movement of 500-nm particles along axonemes of paralyzed flagella mutants of Chlamydomonas, at rates of 2.0 µm/s from base to tip and 3.5 µm/s from tip to base (primary sources).
