Comments "Metagene analyses revealed a progressive depletion of ribosomes from the 5’ to the 3’ ends of the messages after harringtonine [a drug] treatment. Following a delay of ~60 s, which presumably reflects the time required for engagement of harringtonine, ribosomes progress from the 5' ends of transcripts at a rate of 5.6 amino acids per second (Figures 3B and 3C), which is consistent with values from previous single-gene measurements (Bostro¨m et al., 1986 [PMID 3020051])."
