Comments Literature values for the rate of ribosome progression in eukaryotic cells vary from 1–8 amino acids per second per translating ribosome, depending on the cellular conditions and the mRNA (for reviews, see Ryazanov et al, 1991 Mathews et al, 2007), with typical values of 4–5 for animal cells at 25–26°C (e.g. primary sources) and 7–8 for yeast cells at 30°C (e.g. Arava et al, 2003).
