Comments | For the LPS fraction, researchers used a ribosome density of 6.6 kb^-1 on the basis of ultramicroscopy of Escherichia coli polysomes (Brandt et al, 2009). This is about threefold lower than the maximum theoretical packing, based on the structure of the ribosome, and is slightly higher than the packing estimated from detailed analyses of budding yeast polysomes (Arava et al, 2003 MacKay et al, 2004). |
