Method The bacterial TSSs have been mainly identified through two experimental procedures: primer extension [14], and by S1 nuclease protection mapping assays [15].
Comments Figure 14 shows that the spacing between the TSSs and the predicted translation start codons mostly varies between 20 and 40 nucleotides. Very few TSSs were shorter than 20 nucleotides, while some have a long 5' UTR (between 100 and 290 nucleotides upstream of the translation start codon).
