Method Amino acids were derivatized with ortho-phthaldialdehyde (OPA), separated by HPLC using a Grom-Sil OPA-3 column (125 × 4 mm, Grom-Analytik, Herrenberg, Germany) and detected as isoindol-derivatives by fluorescence (Agilent Series 1100 Agilent Technologies, Waldbronn, Germany) with excitation at 330 nm and emission at 450 nm.
