Method To determine the concentration of ß-carotene in plasma samples (0 and 160 min), 100µl of plasma was mixed with 100µl of ethanol and 300µl of hexane in Eppendorf micro-centrifuge tube and shaken with Eppendorf vortex for 2 min and then centrifuged (9300 g) for further 2 min. The hexane layer was separated and the absorbance of the extract was measured at 453 nm.
