Method The cross-sectional area of each cell type was determined by microprojection on cross-sectional paper and planimetry of the area bounded by individual cells. Cross-sectional areas of the cell nuclei were also measured. For growth conditions see bottom of p.273 and top of p.274
Comments Living cells were employed in all these determinations, and measurements were repeated on at least 20 different cells of each type. The mean and standard deviation of each type of measurement is presented in Table I. Spread surface area for cell nuclei in human serum. Area of cell nucleus in porcine serum was 198±30µm^2.
