The chain length of acid_soluble polyP of mitochondria was estimated by electrophoresis. Under Pi limitation, their polyP level was too low to be detected by this method. The chain length was <15 phosphate residues. This is close to the value determined by 31P_NMR [ref 24]. Under phosphate overplus, the mitochondrial polyP chains became longer. At the same time, polyP accumulation in mitochondria was not observed during cultivation on ethanol under aeration, even under polyP overplus in the cells [primary source 27]. Their content was extremely low (Table 1)."
