Final replicative volume-volume of cell that can no longer replicate

Range 160-539 µm^3
Organism Budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Method Cell volume was estimated by analysis of microscopic images recorded every each five cell divisions during a routine procedure of determination of replicative lifespan. Images were captured with a Nikon Eclipse E200 microscope with 20× objective, equipped with a Sony digital camera. It was assumed that each cell has a regular shape similar to a sphere and the cell volume was calculated as 4p(d/2)^3/3.
Comments Final replicative volume-volume of cell that can no longer replicate. In a population, cells cease to bud after various number of cell cycles but attaining a similar final volume.
