Hemoglobin concentration in erythrocytes

Value 330 g/l
Organism Human Homo sapiens
Reference Amazing numbers in biology, Rainer Flindt, Springer 2006, pp. 219
Comments See PMID 19495910 p.35 top paragraph for same value: "Hemoglobin is 330 mg/ml in erythrocytes, making its concentration 0.005 M. The average separation of molecules (center to center) is 6.9 nm [for calculation see measurement method of BNID 110542]. The diameter of a single hemoglobin molecule is about 5 nm. These molecules are very concentrated, near the highest physiological concentration of any protein (the crystallins in lens cells can be at >50% protein by weight)."
