Moisture content of hair by weight

Range ≤32 %
Organism Human Homo sapiens
Reference Robbins, Clarence R. Chemical composition, pp.39-68, chapter 2 in the book Chemical and physical behavior of human hair / Clarence R. Robbins.-2nd ed (2002) p.39 2nd paragraph
Comments P.39 2nd paragraph: "Human hair, depending on its moisture content (up to 32% by weight), consists of approximately 65% to 95% proteins. Proteins are condensation polymers of amino acids, and the structures of those amino acids found in human hair are depicted in Table 2-1. The remaining constituents are water, lipids (structural and free), pigment, and trace elements (generally not free, but in combination with side chains of protein groups or with fatty-acid groups of lipid)."
