One unit of OD600 corresponds to a cell wet weight and a cell dry weight of

Range Cell wet weight 1.7g/L: cell dry weight 0.39g/L
Organism Bacteria Escherichia coli
Reference Glazyrina J, Materne EM, Dreher T, Storm D, Junne S, Adams T, Greller G, Neubauer P. High cell density cultivation and recombinant protein production with Escherichia coli in a rocking-motion-type bioreactor. Microb Cell Fact. 2010 May 30 9: 42. doi: 10.1186/1475-2859-9-42. p.4 left column 5th paragraphPubMed ID20509968
Method P.4 left column 5th paragraph: "Growth of the cultures was followed by measuring the light absorbance at 600 nm (OD600), by measuring the cell wet weight, and by determination of the cell dry weight. Therefore 1 ml cell suspension was centrifuged in pre-dried and pre-weighed 1 ml test tubes at 13000 × g for 5 min. After removal of the supernatant, the samples were measured for cell wet weight and then dried at 80°C for at least 24 h."
Comments P.4 left column 5th paragraph: "An OD600 of 1 resulted in a cell wet weight of 1.7 g/L and 0.39 g/L of dry weight." E.coli strain(s): E. coli BL21 and BL21(DE3) and recombinant strain E. coli RB791 pAdh.
