Comments "A typical distribution in which particle volume is related to the total chloroplast volume in a suspension is found in Fig.1. It is apparent that chloroplast volumes in a highly purified preparation vary over a wide range extending from more than 100µm^3 to less than 1µm^3 with a mean near 22.5µm^3. The mean chloroplast volume is similar to volumes calculated from particle dimensions [refs 1-6]: however, the distribution in particle volumes demonstrates size heterogeneity which is difficult to evaluate quantitatively by microscopic examination."
