Method Primary source abstract: "Using epifluorescence microscopy and image analysis, [investigators] have quantitatively described the frequency, size, and spatial distribution of bacterial aggregates on leaf surfaces of greenhouse-grown bean plants inoculated with the plant-pathogenic bacterium Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae strain B728a."
Comments P.829 right column top paragraph: "Experimental inoculations with a model bacterial strain and observations by epifluorescence microscopy suggest that most bacteria are located in aggregates of 1,000 cells or more and that the size of the aggregates positively correlates with water availability [primary source]. Aggregates usually contain a range of bacterial and eventually also fungal species [ref 4]."
