Reference Feldman JM, Lee EM. Serotonin content of foods: effect on urinary excretion of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid. Am J Clin Nutr. 1985 Oct42(4): p.640 table 1PubMed ID2413754
Method Diagnosis of quantitative urinary excretion of 5-hydroxyindoleaceticacid (5-HIAA, the principal metabolite of serotonin),
Comments P.640 left column 4th and 5th paragraphs: "Plantain, pineapple, banana, Kiwi fruit, plums, and tomatoes had a high (>3.0 µg/g) serotonin concentration (Table 1). The serotonin concentration of red (5.7 µg/g), blue-red (3.6 µg/g) and blue (43 µg/g) plums were comparable and were grouped together. Ten fruits and vegetables had a moderate (0. 1 to 3.0 µg/g) serotonin (Table 1). The serotonin concentration of Haas and Fuerte avocados was seven times greater than that of Booth avocados (Table 1)."
