Value 14.3 μm Range: ±0.9 μm
Organism Fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Reference Moseley JB, Mayeux A, Paoletti A, Nurse P. A spatial gradient coordinates cell size and mitotic entry in fission yeast. Nature. 2009 Jun 11 459(7248):857-60. doi: 10.1038/nature08074. p.859 figure 3c & Supplementary Information p.13 supplementary tables S1 & S2PubMed ID19474789
Method P.861 left column: "For cell-length measurements, cells were grown at 25˚C in EMM media lacking supplements."
Comments P.859 left column top paragraph: "These results indicate that Pom1 may act directly on Cdr2 in cells, although an indirect effect through other protein kinases remains possible. To investigate potential functional roles for this regulation, [investigators] examined the length of pom1D cells at division. These divided at a smaller size than wild-type cells, indicating premature entry into mitosis (Fig. 3c)."
