P.286 left column bottom paragraph:"Unlike the report by Doyon et al. (2011), [investigators] also identified a large fraction of dynamin-deficient CCPs (∼50%). [They] compared the lifetime distributions of CCPs with or without dynamin and found significant differences both in their median lifetime (∼65 s versus ∼30 s) and shape (Figure 5E for the full decomposition of lifetimes, see Figure S4B). Thus, in the absence of dynamin, the disappearance of CCPs from the plasma membrane is dramatically accelerated. More importantly, the lifetime distribution for dynamin-deficient CCPs displayed a quasi-exponential shape characteristic of a process where the disassembly of structures is triggered by a single random event that occurs at a specific rate (Figure S3A), indicative of abortive events." |
