Comments See notes below table. For abbreviations in top row of table and in paragraph below see - tinyurl link . "Estimates of the cell cycle time in the gastric mucosa of experimental animals are few: in the rat, Wright (1975) compiled the cycle parameters of the fundic mucosa (table 18.1). Analysis of FLM (fraction of labelled mitoses) curves for the isthmic and pit cells gave a mean TC of 32 hours, and tS of 7.4 hours there is clearly a great deal of variation in individual cell cycle times, since CV(TC) was over 80 per cent (table 18.1), but the computer fit (Gilbert 1972) is hardly satisfactory (figure 18.3A) and a median value would be closer to 19 hours...Following the migration of labelled cells has been the favoured method of measuring the transit time. In the dog fundus, Willems et al. (1971) report a minimum transit time (isthmus/foveolar) of 3-4 days, while the same parameter is about 2-3 days in the hamster fundus and pylorus (Hattori and Fujita 1976a,b) the transit times to the gland fundus have already been referred to (see...table 18.1)"
