Value 20 Hours Range: 70 hours with addition of 200 mM aluminum sulfate Hours
Organism Bacteria Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans

Comments The obligately lithoautotrophic bacterium Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans grew with sulfur as energy source at a doubling time of 20 h to a final cell concentration of 0.24 g cell dry weight/l. Addition of 100 mM aluminum sulfate to the medium had little effect on growth (as opposed to addition of 200 mM).
