Method Primary source: Metabolites were assayed by published methods (Bergmeyer, 1976) either spectrophotometrically or fluorimetrically. The metabolite concentrations were calculated from the known wet weight of the analysis sample, and wet-weight/packed-cell volumes ratios were determined at each stage for each experiment. The packed-cell volumes were corrected for extracellular space (Barravecchio et al., 1969).
Comments At the preculmination (20 hour) stage.
