Comments "[Researchers] compared TagRFP characteristics with those of mCherry, which is probably the best monomeric red fluorescent protein reported to date, being characterized by a monomeric nature, high pH-stability, high maturation rate and relatively high photostability [ref 3]. Direct comparison of the purified proteins revealed that TagRFP is characterized by 2.2-fold higher fluorescence quantum yield, as well as a higher molar extinction coefficient (Table 1), resulting in 2.8-fold brighter fluorescence than mCherry."
