Comments "The average lifespan of human osteoclasts is about 2 weeks, while the average lifespan of osteoblasts is 3 months (Table 1). After osteoclasts have eroded to a particular distance, either from the central axis in cortical bone or to a particular depth from the surface in cancellous bone, they die and are quickly removed by phagocytes (ref 139)."
