Comments | Kappen et al. (primary source) detected CO2 exchange by polar lichens at -20°C and found that photosynthetic carbon production and respiratory loss were measurable at -18°C to -12°C for certain species. The lichens recovered after having been stored 10 yr at -20°C. |
