Lag phase of E. coli BL21 aerobically grown in M9 minimal medium and 0.45% succinate

Value 20 hours Range: Table - link hours
Organism Bacteria Escherichia coli
Reference Gunasekera TS, Paliy O. Growth of E. coli BL21 in minimal media with different gluconeogenic carbon sources and salt contents. Appl Microbiol Biotechnol. 2007 Jan73(5):1169-72. Supplementary materialPubMed ID16944129
Method Note above table: "All experiments were carried out in test tubes (initial volume of cultures was 10ml). Test tubes were cultivated aerobically in 37ºC incubator. Three independent experiments were carried out for BL21 growth in each medium. Data in this case represents arithmetic averages."
Comments M9 minimal medium is commonly used in microbiological studies. For these conditions max OD600nm=0.56, doubling time 4.6 hours. See fig. 1 in article. See BNID 105398, 105400, 105401
