Method Cell types indicated were treated with 50 ng/ml TRAIL (Tumor necrosis factor Related Inducing Ligand) alone (top panels of supp. fig. 1) or 50 ng/ml TRAIL + cycloheximide bottom panels of supp. fig. 1) and imaged by brightfield microscopy every 10 min for 25.5 h. One hundred cells were analysed for each distribution. Death time was scored as the first frame of apoptotic morphology.
